Dr. Skilling graduated from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry in 1970. He returned to his hometown of Sudbury to practice in the downtown area. In 1972, he opened a small satellite office in The New Sudbury Centre – which at the time was a small strip mall. This part-time location became a full-time office within one year. Dr. Skilling still practices at this same location along with four additional optometrists under the name Family Vision Centre.
Dr. Skilling spends most of his spare time hunting and fishing or just being in the great outdoors at one of his three shacks, as he calls his camps. It was only natural for him to serve on the board of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Committee, whose mandate is to raise funds to support the reintroduction of elk into Ontario’s wilderness. If you hunt or fish, plan to spend some extra talking time in the chair!
